Love, Truth, Wisdom and Charity
Qualified 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Charitable Organization
Abstract
“In this life we cannot always do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
- Mother Teresa
Deeply drawn by these prophetic words and a sincere desire to help those in need, “Athma Mithram” was formed. The term “Athma Mithram” means soulmate. Athma Mithram is a registered charity with 501(c)(3) status based in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Our organization is committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals, regardless of their religion, color, or race. Our sole mission is to help those in need.
History
From The Director’s Desk - Joseph K. Perumaly
About a decade ago, I created a WhatsApp group chat called ‘Perumaly,’ with some of my closest friends. What began as a lighthearted chat evolved into a serious space for discussing pressing global issues. One of my friends often said, "Organizations are not meant for others but for our own refinement." This phrase resonated with me, prompting reflection on its deeper meaning. While it might initially sound selfish, I realized it underscores how we grow through helping others. One day, I asked him, “Why can’t we share this message with the world?” He thought it was a phenomenal idea, and we began brainstorming.
In 2015, after numerous discussions, we registered “Athma Mithram” as a not-for-profit charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status in the U.S.A. By the grace of the Almighty, it gained momentum and began to flourish. The name 'Athma Mithram' means 'soulmate,' and in the context of our mission, it reflects our goal of being 'soul-friends' to those in need.
We named our website “Athma Mithram” to serve as a platform for helping others while fostering our own spiritual growth and making a meaningful difference in the world.
Graciously,
Joseph K. Perumaly
